Each season, the GTCC Philippines stage becomes a proving ground for everyday Filipinos with extraordinary determination.
Last Showdown’s Inspiring Champions
Grand Champion—Benigno “Tatay Benigno” De Guzman Casayuran
At 62 years old, Tatay Benigno has come from Candelaria, Quezon Province,
to prove that dreams do not have an expiration date.
He is a former fisherman, and he came out of retirement to join the GTCC—not for himself but for his family.
Tatay Benigno played every match with deep intent.
The people cheered as he made a final Tongits call to seal his victory and earn the grand prize of ₱5 million.
1st Runner-Up—Ryan Dacalos
Ryan Dacalos of Lipa City, Batangas, is a 38-year-old who has demonstrated that grit and family motivation can go a long distance.
As a father of young children, Ryan has fought his way through the bracket in Tongits, risking calculated and unwavering focus.
Winning 1 million pesos as a runner-up is a lot more than mere paper for him.
It’s a foundation for his family’s future.
Ryan’s controlled demeanor during the final matches stood in sharp contrast to the atmosphere of tension in the room.
Although the cards seemed stacked against him, he read the table well enough to force his opponents into a defensive play.
2nd Runner-Up—Cesha Myed A. Tupas
Tupas, a 37-year-old who came from the province of Rizal, finished in 3rd place and earned ₱488,000.
Usually seen as disciplined in her games, she took smart, defensive approaches, timing her strikes only when wins were well within her grasp.
By the time she reached the finals, she had already won over the crowd with just solid, strategic gameplay.

What Awaits This September Arena
For the September Arena, players who advance past the two-layer filter will have their skills tested like never before.
The Tongits MTT stage is a grind that rewards consistency.
Then come the online finals, where the pace intensifies.
On August 24, the player pool shrinks to the top 180. Six days later, only 90 will remain.
Finally, on August 31, those 90 will battle for one of the 36 coveted seats at the Filinvest Tent.
Once there, it’s all about reading your opponents, adapting to sudden shifts, and keeping your nerves in check.
